  • Faith Wanjiku

    Faith is a neighbour to the Pavilion Village children’s home in Karatina and is always close by to play with the kids. Faith and her mother both have a genetic condition which resulted in them being born without hands or feet.

  • Peter Chege

    Little Peter was born in 2010 but the date is unknown. Peter was left by his mother just after he was born and has since been cared for by his Grandmother. They have not seen or heard from his mother since, so Peter has never know his mum.

    Ascar & Emmanuel are generally very happy children, Ascar especially never stops smiling, even in the face of challenges. When we met them they had both dropped out of school due to lack of school fees and had a shed for shelter.

  • The family who previously lived in the house with no walls

    When we first met this family they were living in a ‘house with no walls’. It was like nothing we had ever seen. Their family were bought to our attention by Wilson Kipsang whose home is in the same community. They urgently needed help and thanks to the hardwork and sponsorship from so many people

    In 2017 we met this family living in the most cramped conditions we have ever seen. 8 Children and their mother sleep between 2 tiny mud huts on the side of the road.

    James is a millennium baby and arrived at the Pavilion Village in 2014. His biological parents were sadly unable to look after him or afford his food and education due to them both suffering from mental illness which prevents them from working.

    Ian, who was born in 2006 moved to Pavillion Village children’s home with his 2 brothers in 2017. They found themselves with no one to take care of them after their Grandmother passed away.

    The GEF team and some volunteers met the very inspiring Rhoda and her family in 2018. She has been through more than anyone could imagine, fighting for her life and losing her hands in 2008 when her husband attacked her with a machete.

    Isaiah, otherwise know as Izoh, was born in Kitale region in 1995. He comes from a large, academically strong family but sadly his parents couldn’t provide for his school fees and they often slept without food. He is now studying a Bachelor of Environment Studies degree at Eldoret University and wishes to be a Geologist.  He

    Winlydia was born in 2002 and she lives with her mum and 2 sisters. Sadly, her father ran away 5 years ago when her elder sister was joining high school and he disagreed with his daughters progressing to high school.

    Diana joined the Pavilion Village Children’s home in 2016 with her sister Daisy. Diana and Daisy’s mother is very sick with a brain tumor and has been unable to take care of them or go to work.

  • A broken arm for 7 years and raising 6 children

    When we first met Daniel and his family, he had recently lost his wife and the mother to his 6 children. Sadly she died giving birth to their twins Anastasia and Mary.  Not long after the tragedy Daniel broke both his arms in an accident and could only afford to have one operated on.
