Philomena (age 5)

Philomena lost her mum in a tragic road accident and ever since then has been regularly sent home from school due to a lack of fees and often goes to sleep hungry.

Since losing their mum, Philomena and her four siblings have lived with their grandmother and depend on her small income from irregular jobs around their village. However, the unreliable nature of this work means it is impossible for her to afford the children’s basic needs such as education and food.

If we can find a sponsor for Philomena’s education, it would alleviate some of the financial pressure on her grandmother and enable her to concentrate on providing food and other basic needs.

By sponsoring Philomena’s education for £35 per month, you will be giving her the chance to attend and complete primary, secondary and tertiary education. 100% of your support will go towards her public-school fees, uniform, shoes, books, school meals, stationery and female menstrual care products when required. You will receive an end of year school performance and general update along with a photo from us.

Please email info@gathimbaedwardsfoundation.org if you are interested in supporting Philomena.

By sponsoring a Kenyan child’s education via GEF, you’ll make a permanent change for children living in poverty and help them go from surviving to thriving.”
