Meals with Meaning
Donate to your meal at one of our partner restaurants and you'll be helping to build a brighter future and improve the quality of life for children in Kenya and north-east Scotland.
Many of the children we support in Kenya are raised by single parents who work long hours on local farms, earning only the equivalent of £2 a day. This leaves them struggling to put food on the table and afford their children's school fees.
In north-east Scotland, families with disabled children are faced with incredibly difficult decisions, forced to choose between covering basic bills and essentials or providing the specialist equipment and therapies their loved ones urgently need for a quality of life we all deserve.
Funds raised through Meals with Meaning go towards the following:
•Leasing land and providing seeds and fertilizer to help families in Kenya grow their own food.
•Providing monthly food support packages to families in Kenya facing a range of challenging circumstances.
•Providing children in Kenya with an education by supporting primary and secondary school fees and meals.
•Grant funding for specialist equipment and services, to families in north-east Scotland who have a child with a disability or life limiting condition.
Inspired by 8848 Restaurant in Aberdeen, the initiative does this by an optional 50 pence or £1 being added to each customer's bill, with restaurants also match funding donations.
“We consider it a great honour to participate in this endeavour as part of our CSR. There is no better sensation than this. When we serve lunch or dinner here at 8848, the same number of people are receiving meals in the other half of the world, especially at this challenging time. We are grateful for our helpful workers, clients, and other stakeholders. While you are at work, we have a sense of accomplishment."
Krish Bhetuwal, 8848 Owner
