When we first met Jesinta and her family, she was struggling to pay the $5 per month rent to keep a roof over the heads of her 4 children. The home was so small, her eldest son had to stay at a neighbours house while Jesinta shared a bed with her 3 other children. With all of her children at an age to attend various levels of education she was finding it impossible to keep her eldest in secondary education.
In 2021 GEF built a new house for the family within one of our small villages, and provided land leasing and seeds for planting, and a food package for 6 months to help Jesinta get back on her feet and get the children back in education.
Derek (pictured above) is now in Grade 8 in secondary school and he demonstrated commitment to his studies while represented his school team in football. In order to support him in continuing his studies with no set backs due to lack of fees we are looking for a sponsor.
By sponsoring Derek's education for £40 per month, you will be giving him the chance to complete secondary and tertiary education. 100% of your support will go towards his public-school fees, uniform, shoes, books, school meals and stationery.
You will receive an end of year school performance and general update along with a photo from us and have the chance to meet him should you come on one of our House Building (next one 2026) trips to Kenya.
