Beat the Sun
Following the huge success of the 2025 fundraiser, which saw 18 cyclists ride from coast to coast to “Beat the Sun”and raise over £19,000, GEF are bringing it back for another year.
At sunrise on the 20th of June 2026, a group of cyclists will set off from Peterhead Harbour on an epic challenge: 233 miles to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, racing the sun across Scotland in just under 18 hours!
The cyclists will pass through Keith, Aberlour, Aviemore, and Glenfinnan, with the final stretch featuring steep climbs around Ben Laga, offering stunning views of Skye and the Cuillin Hills.
Their journey—powered by determination, breathtaking scenery, and community spirit—will raise funds for GEF projects supporting children and families in both Kenya and north-east Scotland.
If you’ve got the legs — and the heart — now’s the time.
Join us. Beat the Sun.
There is a non-refundable entrance fee of £110 to cover the costs of the support vehicles, food and shared accommodation (in the Kilchoan Hotel and Kilchoan Estate Bunkhouse) available to you on the day, and transport back to Aberdeen or Peterhead the following day. You will also receive a unique cycling top and some other mementos.
