2026 in 2026
The idea is simple: Choose a target of 2026 kilometres or 2026 miles in 2026.
Your distance can come from any form of movement — or a combination of several.
What seems daunting on the 1st of January becomes achievable when broken down. Day by day each step, stroke, mile or kilometre gets you closer to your goal.
GEF Trustee, Drew Leitch, who started and first took on this challenge in 2023, shares:
“Setting an annual target helps ensure that exercise becomes an important part of my daily routine. For me, I count both walking and running miles. 2025 was the first time I’d been part of a group of people taking on the challenge. They offered extra motivation and support which made a big difference."
Why should you join GEF’s 2026 in 2026 challenge?
By committing to 2026 in 2026, you’re making a promise to keep moving throughout the entire year...not just showing up at the gym a few times in January. If 2026 km or miles feels too daunting, don’t worry — you can set your own personal target. How about 2,026 steps a day? The real goal is to use the power of community to help you get moving and keep moving throughout 2026.
Every type of movement counts: walking, running, cycling, swimming, cross-trainer, daily steps, and more.
You’ll also be part of an inspiring community who will encourage, motivate, and support each other all year long.
Join our GEF Strava club to share and read updates.
If you are a premium Strava subscriber you also have the option to join Myles Edwards' group challenge - to be added to this group please email myles@gathimbaedwardsfoundation.org so that he can 'invite' you - unfortunately Strava doesn't have a 'join' option for these challenges.
Move Together, Make a Difference
While the main goal is to keep moving and support each other, we’d love if you would consider adding a fundraising angle to your challenge. Every mile or kilometre you complete can help change lives for children and families supported by GEF in Kenya and north-east Scotland.
You can either:
- Use our main event Total Giving fundraising page, or
- Create your own personal fundraising page via Total Giving to share your story and progress.
There’s no pressure to do so, and if you do there is no minimum fundraising target — every contribution, big or small, helps us provide education, shelter, and wellbeing support to those who need it most.
