When we first met Daniel and his family, he had recently lost his wife and the mother to his 6 children. Sadly she died giving birth to their twins Anastasia and Mary. Not long after the tragedy Daniel broke both his arms in an accident and could only afford to have one operated on.
Despite his disability he works round the clock to try and raise enough for his 6 children to go to school and eat meals when possible. His arm was having a huge impact on the work he can do and therefore money he can earn for his family.
After living with a broken arm for 7 years, Daniel has finally got the surgery he so desperately needed – and it was a success, with physiotherapy, his arm is now getting close to full function.
He has faced more challenges in these past years than one person should have to in a lifetime but through everything he kept smiling and remained positive, now that smile is bigger than ever.
Lucy & Andrew Philp and Lucy & Kyle Morrison came out to Kenya in July 2017 to build the family a new home and also very generously contributed towards the operation costs for Daniel to get his arm fixed.
The house was transformed into a happy, clean, safe home in such a short space of time and all the children are now in education. Previously the home was broken, full of mud and lying water. We owe a big thanks to the wonderful work of Lucy, Andrew, Lucy and Kyle along with GEF and our many supporters. All 6 of the children are now sponsored.
