“My name is Nelly Masai and I come from Mount Elgon but live in Iten. I am working full time as a English teacher and half time with the Gathimba Edwards Foundation. In addition, I completed a Masters Degree in Gender Studies.
I met Myles in Iten back in 2011 and since then have got to know him and heard his stories of the work the Foundation was doing in Karatina. When they started to help children in Iten, I was delighted to be asked to come aboard.
The foundation gives a lot of children an opportunity they otherwise would not have had. This opportunity will hopefully help children in Kenya to climb out of the poverty trap and ensure better lives for them and their families.
Although I was not born into a wealthy family, I was lucky enough to be able to follow my studies all the way to university level. In appreciating my good fortune, I feel it is necessary to play my part in helping others to get the chances I got.”
